How to Build an Artist Profile That Gets Booked - Practical Tips
Profile tips for singers, anchors, dancers, actors and comedians. Use the right photos, a short video, a clear bio and clear services so bookers can say yes.
When someone is looking for a singer for a sangeet or an anchor for their company's award night, they usually open several profiles one after another and decide quickly who to shortlist. Your profile has to answer their questions fast. Who are you, what do you do, how good are you, and how do I book you?
No profile can guarantee bookings. But a clear, honest and well-presented profile makes it much easier for the right people to choose you. Here is how to build one.
What bookers look for
- Clarity. What you perform, for which kinds of events and in which languages.
- Proof. Real photos and videos of you performing.
- Fit. Signs that you have done similar events before.
- Ease. A simple way to reach you and a quick, polite reply.
Photos - your first impression
- One clear headshot with good light, a plain background and your face fully visible
- Two or three live performance photos, ideally with an audience in the frame
- Recent photos that look like you today
- Both portrait and landscape versions, because different screens crop images differently
- Light editing only, because heavy filters make bookers wonder what you really look like
- Only photos you have the right to use, with credit to the photographer where possible
Avoid group photos where it is hard to tell which person is you.
Video - the most important part
A booker cannot hear your voice or feel your stage presence from a photo. Video does that.
- Lead with your best. Put your strongest moment first, because many viewers decide in the first few seconds.
- Show live work. A real event with a real audience is more convincing than a studio shoot.
- Keep the audio clean. For singers and musicians, poor sound can hide real talent.
- Make a short showreel of highlights, and keep a few longer clips for people who want to see more.
- Match the events you want. If you want wedding bookings, show wedding performances.
Write a clear bio
Keep it short and specific. Answer these questions:
- Who you are and what you perform
- The events you do best, such as weddings, corporate events, private parties, festivals or kids' events
- The languages you perform or host in
- Where you are based and whether you travel
- What makes your performance different
Here is an example of the kind of sentence that works: "Bengaluru-based singer performing Kannada and Hindi film songs at weddings, sangeets and corporate evenings, with a live band or on tracks." It tells a booker almost everything in one line.
Be honest. Do not mention shows, awards or clients you cannot back up. Bookers often check, and lost trust is hard to win back.
List your services clearly
Bookers do not like guessing. Spell out:
- The event types you accept
- Your set length or hosting duration
- Whether you perform solo, as a duo or with a band, and your team size
- What you bring, such as instruments, costumes or a sound system, and what the organiser must arrange
- The cities you cover and how travel is handled
- How much notice you need
- How you price, whether that is a starting range, an hourly fee or a quote on request, and be ready to send a clear quote quickly
Tips for each type of artist
- Singers and musicians. Show your range of genres and languages. Mention whether you perform with tracks or a live band, and list a few songs from your usual repertoire.
- Anchors and emcees. Show a clip of you handling a crowd, not just a scripted introduction. List your languages and event types, and say whether you write your own scripts.
- Dancers and choreographers. Show both performances and teaching. If you choreograph sangeet performances for families, show clips of family groups you have trained.
- Actors and theatre artists. Include a showreel, a monologue clip, recent productions, your languages and the details casting teams usually ask for.
- Comedians. Share clean clips and say whether your material suits corporate, college or family audiences.
Reply fast and well
A good profile brings enquiries. A good reply turns them into bookings. When an enquiry comes in:
- Reply quickly, even if only to say you are checking your availability.
- Ask the key questions: date, time, venue, event type, audience size, language and duration.
- Send a clear quote that lists what is included.
- Confirm everything in writing.
Keep your profile fresh
Update your photos and videos every few months, remove services you no longer offer and add new clips after good performances. An up-to-date profile tells bookers you are active.

Frequently asked questions
Is it free to create an artist profile on HappyTime Book?
Yes. Anyone, including singers, actors, theatre artists, dancers, directors and anchors, can build a free profile at the join page.
Do I need professional photos?
Not necessarily. Clear, well-lit and recent photos taken on a good phone can work well. What matters most is that they are sharp, honest and show you performing.
Will a good profile guarantee bookings?
No profile can guarantee bookings. A clear profile with good videos and quick replies simply makes it easier for organisers to understand what you offer and get in touch.
Should I show my prices on my profile?
That is your choice. Some artists share a starting range so enquiries are better matched, while others prefer to quote for each event. Either way, reply with a clear quote quickly.
